Re-Discovering One's Soul

‘Psychic' is a term you hear a lot these days. But what does it really mean? ‘Psychic' has to do with the ‘psyche.' And ‘psyche' means ‘soul', which is defined as “the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life.” (Merriam Webster). It also describes people such as myself who are sensitive to such things. And it defines the kind of work I do.
My job is to get a person in touch with his/her soul, essence, inner being, divine spark; whatever you wish to call it. This involves reading unseen energy so a person may get clear on his/her choices. It can also involve healing, in which I help blocked energy to move. Blocked energy may lie at the root of health conditions, or it may play out as trouble in relationships, money problems or other challenging aspects of a person's life. When this energy is freed up, things simply fall into place. There is no better source to align to, than with your soul's divine essence.
Being psychic is surely a gift, but it is more common than most of us realize. I believe we are all born psychic, that is, completely open and connected to soul essence. It is common for small infants to smile and coo at nothing, ‘talk to' blank walls, or a spot just above your head. But as soon as the child grows old enough to communicate what she's seeing, we tell her that it's not real, it's just her imagination. And so she begins to shut down her ability to see into other dimensions.
In my own background there were fortunately two doors left open that kept my gift from being repressed. First, my family listened to our dreams and sought to understand and interpret their messages. This in effect kept an ear open to the subconscious. Secondly, as a child I took up my mother's interest in palmistry and found that I could hold someone's hand and ‘know' their secrets. At the time I didn't really consider this a psychic gift. To me it was merely a parlor trick to entertain and amuse, and occasionally, scare the living daylights out of someone who had previously thought his secrets safe!
I did also have an avid interest in all things metaphysical, frequently haunting new age book stores and searching for, please God, something more than chop wood, carry water. Otherwise, I lived a ‘normal' life and did the conventional things — married, raised a family, and worked in the business world for 20-plus years. All this while, my life kept getting harder, and happiness often eluded me. I had collected more than my share of painful baggage along the way and knew I needed to clear it. I did this through personal therapy and then by completing a clairvoyant training program in the early 90's.
My purpose at the time was simply to grow past my own stumbling blocks; I had no intention of making my living in that way. Open myself to ridicule? No thank you. Definitely too woo-woo. What would the neighbors think! However, God/Goddess/Great Spirit/All That Is (or whatever name you choose to call Him/Her/It) evidently had other plans for me. The more I learned, the more I wanted to learn and share. This was more than a parlor trick, it was real and true, and I felt its grace in the very depths of my being. I had always had the deep desire to help others. It was a thrill to connect with my own power for the first time in my life and to be able to heal myself and pass these skills on to those who began to come to me for guidance.
My sessions focus on teaching self-healing. This does not involve adding something a person doesn't already have. Instead, it begins with the recognition that at the core of any person is his or her soul or unlimited, spiritual self. All that is needed to peel away misunderstandings, unresolved traumas and limits we have placed on ourselves. I think of this process as compared to sculpting. When the skilled sculptor is asked how he manages to bring forth such life-like, finely detailed statues, he replies: "By chipping away everything that isn't the statue." I can think of no greater joy than in helping someone let go of all that isn't true about him or herself, and uncovering the pure and shining spirit within. If I could rediscover my own soul essence, just maybe I can help you find yours.
